1. How do you personally respond when someone claims to be a victim? What are the dangers of embracing victimhood as a core identity? How does it affect personal responsibility?
Read Psalm 109:1-4.
2. What is your typical reaction when someone genuinely wrongs or harms you? How does David contrast his own response with that of the wrongdoers in these verses?
Read Psalm 109:6-10.
3. What two perspectives on these verses were mentioned in the sermon? Is it ever appropriate to pray like this? How do we reconcile these verses with Jesus’ teachings in the New Testament about loving and praying for your enemies?
4. Discuss the difference between seeking justice and seeking revenge. How does Psalm 109 illustrate that distinction? How can prayer become a powerful tool for seeking justice while keeping your heart aligned with God’s will?
5. How difficult is it for you to trust God's justice instead of seeking your own revenge or resolution? In what ways do you tend to take matters into your own hands? Reflect on Romans 12:17–19 and Proverbs 24:29 in light of this struggle.
6. How does Jesus embody the themes of Psalm 109, especially in 1 Peter 2:23? What does it mean that He "entrusted Himself to Him who judges justly," and how might we follow His example?
